San Ramon, California - Hundreds of thousands of people are injured every day with low back pain. Most people will see their primary doctor, who usually prescribed painkillers, anti-inflammatory drugs and muscle relaxants. Some people call a local chiropractor and receive a chiropractic treatment. Then some people will try to manage their own pain.
The medical literature is full of case studies on low back pain. Why do some people develop it, while others don't develop discussions. There are some risk factors associated with low back pain:
1. Obesity, or gradually increase weight in the abdomen
2. Excessive sedentary lifestyle
3. History of waist injuries
4. Enter A personality
Smoker
6. History of sports
7. Long torso
If you belong to one or more of these categories, you are at high risk of low back pain. Let us review the reasons:
obesity from
- When you stop growing, your bones will stop growing around the age of 20. Your long bones and vertebrae are large enough to support a naturally thin body weight. Now, the only way to increase weight after stopping growth is to increase fat or pregnancy. If fat settles in the abdomen, it will move the center of gravity of the stomach forward and pull the lower spine forward during this process. The extra weight compresses the cartilage [disc] in the spine, as well as the hips, knees and ankles. Over time, it can cause cracks in the cartilage. Increased pressure and spinal cord obstruction of the posterior vertebral joint [small joint], resulting in less movement of the vertebrae. This can cause the muscles around the spine to shrink or weaken. Final Results: Low back pain and stiffness.
An over sedentary lifestyle. from
Many people who work at their desks most of the day fall into this category. You need to move your spine often to keep your disc hydrated and healthy, and keep your spine muscles moving and adjusted so that it can support your spine from the back, sides and front. Sitting instead of exercising can cause the disc to weaken and the back muscles to weaken, causing pain.
The history of low back injuries. from
If you hurt your back during high school or college, it may have healed. However, the wounded tissue is mixed with scar tissue. Scar tissue is the muscle, tendon and ligament tissue that your body uses to close the fracture. Scar tissue is not as strong or elastic as normal tissue, so if the previously injured area is subjected to heavy loads, or sometimes suddenly moving, it may be injured again. This time, because you are older, it may not heal as quickly as before, or even become chronic [permanent].
Type A personality. from
This means that you are often under pressure, aggressive, and always "anytime, anywhere." Type A characters are hard to relax. Studies have shown that this can increase heart rate, blood pressure and cortisol [stress hormone] levels. These physiological changes are not conducive to a healthy back.
Smoker from
. Smoking causes oxygen to be delivered to the tissue. If your work puts a lot of pressure on your back, the cells that make up your discs, muscles, ligaments and tendons need oxygen because their metabolic rate increases. Limited oxygen can damage these structures. In addition, cigarette smoke contains at least ten known carcinogens.
History of sports from
. There is nothing delicious here. Any movement that requires jumping and landing can have a huge impact on the spine. Spelling is designed to handle such activities, but only for such activities. This can overcome the body's engineering and cause cartilage and bone disruption in 4-6 years.
Long torso. from
People with longer upper body are often more prone to low back pain. The reason is that a long torso means a long spine. When the head is at the end of the spine [weight 10-12 lbs], a lever arm is formed. Gravity tends to pull the head forward, so if your torso is long, you need to gain more power [the larger lever arm] from the lower back muscles to stand or sit up straight. To help imagine this, the picture holds a stick with a 10-pound shot at the end and then leans forward slightly. You will notice the power needed to keep it. Now, the picture is holding a broom length stick with a 10 lb. projection - you will not be able to keep it because the power generated is much greater.
If you understand these risk factors, you can take immediate steps to reduce your chances of developing low back pain.
